Growing Things: Amaryllis Blossom



My roommate gave me an amaryllis for Christmas. I planted it around the first of January, and it has been growing fervently on top of my bookshelf quite unaware of the cold, snowy weather outdoors. Yesterday it sleeted, and my plant blossomed.

    BTW, before I go abroad you should give me some advice on house plants that require little care :P

    Thanks for the post. I love amaryllis plants. They're such fast growers. Now I just need to figure out how to get the bulb to grow 2 consecutive years!
